Our Mission

At Uute Scientific, we are striving to create a “Life without immune-mediated diseases”. These are diseases such as type 1 diabetes, atopic dermatitis, allergies and asthma. By rebalancing our microbial diversity, we want to reduce the impact of the increasing problem of our modern urban lifestyle.

“A few years back I was wandering with my good friend Olli in a stretch of forest between our homes. Our boys were paddling in the water and there was a wonderful sense of peace, despite all their chatter. Looking at their muddy hands and faces – and knowing the wealth of good it was doing for their immune systems – I said: ‘I wish I could bottle this for people in cities.’ So that’s what we did.”

Earths life support system

Biodiversity is essential for the processes that support all life on Earth, including humans.

Biodiversity provides functioning ecosystems that supply oxygen, clean air and water, pollination of plants, pest control, wastewater treatment and many other ecosystem services. Any loss or deterioration in the condition of biodiversity has been shown to affect our overall health, particularly our immune system.

Delivering the riches of Finnish nature

Finland has the purest air of any developed country and has some of the world’s purest water. Add in the ultra-cleansing frozen winters and the result is one of the most biodiverse countries in Europe.

Forests are not surprisingly the most important major habitat type in Finland. The forest’s mineral soil covers almost 15 million hectares of land. That’s a staggering 36% of the country’s total area and 49% of the land area!

Biodiversity has been declining throughout the west over the past 70 years. This loss of biodiversity is changing the microbial exposure we face. It means that our immune system does not receive proper training. Such inadequate immune defence training leads to immune-mediated diseases.

That is where our Re-Connecting Nature® microbe extract steps in offering a helping hand.

“We are pioneers in an entirely new category “Immunocosmetics” – where beauty and immunity connect.”

The science behind it – our pioneering microbial extract

With today’s increased sanitisation and urban dwelling, our skin’s natural microbial biodiversity has been significantly reduced. Exposure to nature’s rich biodiversity is essential to train the immune system and enable it to develop correctly.

This reduction in microbial diversity has been linked to an exponential growth in auto-immune diseases globally. These include allergies and diseases such as type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease and asthma.

Our humus extract captures the rich biodiversity found in nature in a safe and easy-to-use form. Its biodiversity is measured using Shannon’s diversity index, and to ensure batch-to-batch standardisation and efficacy, we use Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies.
