First in the world – Finnish clothing company Ruskovilla introduces underwear and accessories with natural forest microbes that stimulate and support the immune system
21st September 2021
A 40-year-old Finnish family-owned company Ruskovilla is the first in the world to introduce Metsä (forest in Finnish) underwear and accessories for the entire family containing Finnish Re-Connecting Nature® microbe extract. The extract contains an optimal mix of natural microbes found in forests. The products are expected to have a high demand especially in the global metropoles.
ADELE, a joint research project between Finnish and international universities, has proven that exposure to rich biodiversity is connected to lower levels of autoimmune diseases such as allergy, asthma and type 1 diabetes. Autoimmune diseases are one of world’s fastest-growing illness types
and it is often proposed that the sterile Western lifestyle estranged from nature might be one of the main causes.
A Finnish patented invention into Finnish underwear
Re-Connecting Nature® microbe extract, an innovation born out of the ADELE research project, contains an optimal mix of natural microbes found in forests and nature. The extract has been created by the Finnish company Uute Scientific. An immune response has been proven on the
microbe extract users and previously the extract has been successfully added to cosmetics. Now the latest application is in textiles. – Underwear covers a large part of our skin and it is also worn during the winter months when microbe exposure in the icy and snow-covered nature is otherwise impossible. With this as our starting point we started to examine how the extract could be added to organic silk wool as part of the production process. As a result of our product development project, we can now introduce the Metsä underwear and accessories for adults, children and babies containing Reconnecting Nature® microbe extract, says Ruskovilla’s CEO Ossi Näkki.
Global market ready
The products have been well-received, and they are expected to sell especially well in the North American and Asian metropoles. – The Metsä products, first introduced in the summer, already have a waiting list. We have been exporting our products for decades and additionally we also serve consumers globally via our online shop. We can already say that in addition to Finland the products will also have demand in large cities where the inhabitants have significantly less exposure to nature, says Mr. Näkki on the market potential of Metsä products.
